Education is a developing sector for the practice. In the schools sector, we are at the preliminary stage of projects to extend a number of existing primary schools and are awaiting instruction on completed feasibility work for others.
Work has been completed at Singlewell Primary School and Oak Trees Community School, Maidstone, in conjunction with Faber Maunsell and Kent County Council. Following the successful completion of an IT and library project for Oak Trees, we won a limited competition for extending their seven classrooms and construction work on this phase is currently underway.
At university level, we won a competition in 2003 to design a new facility for the Oxford University Boat Club on a riverside site in Wallingford. This is to provide a new home for the main university rowing squads following the destruction of their old building by fire in 1999. We were also invited to design a building for University College Oxford, who own the site of the burnt out shell, to contain graduate rooms over a new facility for the college boat club.
